1,200 People Signed the Petition to Keep Arboretum Drive Safe for People Walking, Running & Biking!
We've now surpassed 1,200 people!! Thank you to all who have signed and shared the Petition--since the last time I sent the Petition and Comments to UW-Officials, 350 more people have joined this collective action!
This morning, I sent the updated Petition and Comments to the UW-Madison Director of Transportation Services, along with this response to his email:
Dear Mr. Kass,
Thank you for your email and the information on the long-term safety plans the UW is working on along Arboretum Drive, including the possibility of permanent dedicated pedestrian and bike facilities. I shared your response with the people that signed and view the Petition, posting it as an update on 8/5.
As of this morning, 1,200 people have now signed this petition asking the UW-Madison to extend the temporary restriction on motor vehicles along Arboretum Drive until we can get past the COVID-19 pandemic.
Could you please share the Petition and Comments with the Town of Madison, and residents that consider the drive their local road, and see whether they would be willing to reconsider their position and allow for an extension on the temporary restriction of motor vehicles?
Perhaps after seeing the number of people who are asking for this temporary extension, and the comments on how the motor vehicle restriction created so many benefits for our community, you could reach an agreement.
