Hello everyone. Our campaign is still going strong. Thank you for your support!
Recently the CEO of the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) spoke with national TV personality Jane Velez-Mitchell on HLN about the unethical baby monkey studies at UW-Madison. The Change.org petition was a major focus of the discussion because of our 300,000+ signatures.
You can catch the 5 minute video here http://www.hlntv.com/video/2014/10/03/outrage-over-planned-monkey-experiments and then share it!
In the video, you will hear that the University of Wisconsin disagrees with the wording of the petition - no surprise there! This quibbling over terminology is meant to deflect legitimate criticism. I stand by the petition. The study protocol clearly outlines how baby monkeys will be taken from their mothers, scared by live snakes and human intruders, forced into a state of depression and anxiety, then killed before the age of 2.
The University of Wisconsin PR spin cannot change the fact that this is animal cruelty which has no place in a modern scientific community. Remember, these baby monkeys will be subject to the ultimate deprivation - a premature and unnatural death at the hands of UW after having lived brief and horrible lives.
More updates soon. I thank you for your compassion and perseverance.
