Dear #SaveUWAP Petition supporters - thank you once again.
UWAP have informed me that their office continues to be inundated by messages of support and requests for updates of where the closure decision is currently sitting. One way to keep in touch is by subscribing to the newsletter at www.uwap.com.au News will be circulated when they have any.
UWAP continues to offer a 25% discount on their full list by using the discount code SAVEUWAP in the final stage of purchasing. (They cannot guarantee delivery before the Christmas closedown, but if orders are placed up to 12 December they’ll have the best chance of arriving in December).
The next milestone in the campaign is the upcoming meeting of the UWA Senate, next Monday, 9th December. Under The University of Western Australia Act 1911 the Senate has “the entire control and management of the affairs of the University and may act in all matters concerning the University in such manner as appears to it best calculated to promote the interests of the University”, so if anyone can override DVC Shah's proposal to close the UWAP hard copy literary publishing operation, it would appear that the Senate can. The full printout of (currently) 10,267 signatures will be provided to the meeting by members of the Academic Council. Here's hoping the Senate finds it compelling enough to act. I will update you here the minute I know of any outcomes.
all best wishes - especially for the safety of those in fire-affected areas -
MS
