A renown eugenicist and promoter of the killing of people with disabilities is speaking at UVic and it's time we do something about it!

Peter Singer is a bioethics professor at the University of Princeton and is best known for utilitarian philosophy. He has been an outspoken advocate for the killing of babies with disabilities, and has promoted US policy that unapologetically supports this move towards eugenics.

Disability groups such as NotDeadYet, as well as students and allies at Princeton University, have actively protested his continued tenure due to his views that would promote the genocide of people with disabilities.

At present, Peter Singer has been invited to speak at UVic on his work on "effective altruism" by a group calling itself UVic Effective Altruism. Although members in the community have requested that the organizers of the event find an alternate speaker, they have refused our request.

If you are someone who doesn't want to see the ableism, discrimination, and hate speech be accepted on this university, please sign this petition to voice your concerns and demand that UVSS revoke the group UVic Effect Altruism's event booking if they don't cancel Peter Singer as a speaker.
