CSWE Reduces Field Hours to 765...Let's Get USC to Recognize This!!!
Hello everyone! Thank you all for supporting and signing this petition.
I wanted to provide some updates:
This petition was presented to Dean Suzanne Wenzel, Vice Dean Concepcion Barrio, and Field Director Ruth Supranovich on March 20th during a virtual town hall meeting. The administrators stated that the school will stick to the 1000 hour requirement for field hours even though at that time the CSWE released a statement stating that programs could eliminate hours that are in excess of the 900 hours required by CSWE.
Today, March 25th 2020, the CSWE released another statement regarding hours. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they are reducing the 900 required hours to 765 hours.
This is huge.
I am urging you all to reach out to the school's administrators regarding this change. I am hopeful that if enough of us email them, they will eliminate the rest of our field hours that are in excess of the hours required by the CSWE. This is a stressful time for a lot of us and asking us to do busy work to meet these extra hours is not beneficial to our learning and is affecting our overall wellness. This busy work is also not helping fulfill the competencies, another reason given by the administrators as to why the hours cannot be reduced.
I am not sure if I am allowed to attach emails to this petition but you can copy and paste the names of the following administrators into google to get to their page on the USC faculty directory. Their email will be listed to the left of the screen, under their picture.
Administrators to email:
Dean: Suzanne Wenzel
Vice Dean: Concepcion Barrio
Field Director: Ruth Supranovich
Please send them an email and urge them to take the CSWE recommendation into consideration and eliminate excess field hours required by our program. We are in a crisis and policies need to be adjusted! Let them know how this pandemic is affecting you.
Now is our time to practice advocacy. We need to advocate for ourselves and get the administrators to see that reducing field hours is the right thing to do!
