With a student body of more than 43,000 and with the statistic that 1 and 5 women will be sexually assaulted while in college it is almost unfathomable that a large institution like the University of Southern California does not have a rape treatment center on campus.

In the 2015 USC Climate Survey, nearly 30% of female undergraduate students reported having experienced some form of sexual assault or misconduct since attending the university.

The closest center is over 14 miles away in Santa Monica at the UCLA Rape Treatment Center, which is extremely inaccessible for many students. With the lack of transportation, young women end up having to pay out of pocket (via uber or metro) in order to get to the treatment center as well as in uncovered insurance bills. 

Through our change petition, we aim to accomplish two main goals:  

1) USC Engemann on-campus health center should hire a sexual assault nurse on campus so that no evidence is compromised.

2) Educate the student body on the available resources on campus and what their next steps should be if they are a survivor of sexual violence through our online  platform.
