Alistair Dommett started this petition to University of Southampton

Some students at the University of Southampton are told they must present two bound copies of their dissertation/thesis, as it is 'tradition'. They must also submit an online copy, and it is this online copy that is marked. Therefore, students must needlessly print off two physical copies of their dissertation/thesis.

With Climate Change such a pressing issue in this day and age, and the President of the World's largest economy refusing to even acknowledge it's existence, everyone should do their bit to preserve this beautiful planet for our children and grandchildren. The least the University of Southampton could do - especially because universities are expected to be run by intelligent people - is remove a 'tradition' made pointless by online submissions. And who knows, if the University did do its bit, then perhaps there will be a ripple effect and other universities will follow.

If this petition was able to achieve at least 1,000 signatures, I could email the new Chancellor with a significant student backing. Hopefully, she could then make a positive change to the University in her first few months in charge.
