Dear Signatories,
This morning I received a reply from Paul Nann, Manager of the Properties Management Unit. He notified me a further email would be sent out to all residents but did not disclose a decision on the petition or whether that would be included in said email.
His email, along with my consequent response, is below. I have directly asked for a decision on the measures we have requested.
Hopefully, we will get another reply by the end of the week.
Best,
Adam

Email from Paul Nann:
Dear Adam,
Thank you for your email, which has been escalated to me for response.
I am sorry to learn of your dissatisfaction with the delays to install the new laundry machines at College Hall and that other residents have also raised concerns resulting in the attached petition.
The Halls Management staff and project team are working closely with the new supplier and will have all machines installed by Monday of next week (at all of the other halls). To ensure all residents who have been effected receiving the same information, a further email will be sent to all residents to address this matter further.
I am sorry for the inconvenience caused to all residents across the Intercollegiate halls and I thank you for compiling this direct feedback from the residents from College Hall.
I will be in touch further when the email to all residents will be sent.
Kind Regards,
Paul Nann

My response to his email:
Dear Paul,
Thank you for your response. We are glad to hear that you are working closely with the new supplier.
However, since the writing of my last email, the signatories to the petition has exceeded 100 to currently stand at 104. During this time we have had the laundry facilities restored. Yet, on the first day, to my knowledge, there were three machines placed out of order, and only 80% of them had actually been installed as the final two only arrived this week. With the large influx of users, in what is an already limited facility for 300+ residents, the issue has persisted for many.
Nonetheless, our petition sought to seek further compensation, as undoubtedly the issue has consequentially been inflamed since. The specific measures we are petitioning were outlined in paragraph four of our prior email:
“Hence, we write to you today to request that the free vend period for all washing/drying facilities be extended indefinitely. As we understand it, for the sake of clarity, this would extend till the end of the current contractual period on June 22nd, 2019. Whilst we appreciate the current offer up until the 31st of March, such compensation is now inadequate considering the third further extension of two weeks and running.”
You neglected to address the above request in our previous communication, which was the focal point of the petition that was previously linked. Whilst we very much wanted to raise our concerns and let our troubles be known, our prerogative was to pose you with this request. Thus, could we kindly ask for a direct reply on this matter as stated above?
As you mention yourself, we have become increasingly aware that the struggles we face at College Hall are not unique to us. Our hearts go out to those that will have had to undergo this massive inconvenience into an eighth week, as you mention. It is for this reason that we hope any decision which you undertake for us would also apply to our equals in other residences. Should the petition need to persist, we have every intention of getting in contact with the other halls of residence to unionise on this matter to reach a satisfactory solution.
Again, we appreciate your reply to our feedback. Though, we eagerly await a direct response to the actual matter in which we are petitioning. Hoping to hear back from you soon.
Best regards,
Adam (on behalf of the signatories to the petition)
