Problem
Glasgow University has published a report admitting that it benefited from the proceeds of slavery. The report.. "is based on more than two years of research and reveals that the institution benefited directly from the slave trade in Africa and the Caribbean in the 18th and 19th centuries to the tune of almost £200m in today’s money".
The university has now launched a wide-ranging and ambitious “reparative justice programme”. It is also working to establish ties with the University of the West Indies (UWI).
A broader Consultative Process is needed as the UWI represents a bastion of colonialism and does not speak for the grass roots Reparation Movement nor the Caribbean Social Movement For Afrikan Reparations.
We are afraid if left unchecked, The UofG will pay Reparations into a Colonial Institution which does not speak for the People NOR the activists and advocates of Reparations!

Solution
The University of Glasgow should facilitate a broader consultative process to include the grass roots Reparation Movements, Afrikan Reparations Scholar- Activists and Afrikan Heritage Communities in the Caribbean to properly determine actual beneficiaries and be more transparent in its efforts to repair the damage caused by its role in Slavery!
