Hello friends of UF Graduate Housing,

We are looking to raise money to hire a professional muralist to paint a message on the SW 34th St. wall to bring attention to our plight -- that UF Housing is planning to needlessly demolish our homes at Maguire Village and University Village South!  Visit www.mightycause.com/story/Saveufgradhousingmural to donate.

And please come out to our mural painting / sign-waving event this Saturday March 12, 2022.  The muralist will be working at the graffiti wall all afternoon (weather pending), but you are welcome to paint your own message to help convince UF to Save Maguire Village and UVS! Sign waving will start around 4pm and go to 6pm, so please come out to SW 34th St. on Saturday if you can!

Additional funds beyond the muralist cost will go towards continued outreach efforts (flyers, ads, touch-ups to the mural, and future art projects as needed), so please donate what you can!

One more way you can help is to contribute your story.  We especially need people who live at Maguire/UVS now (or did recently) to share, as local reporters are looking for what kind of impact the decision is having on real people.  If you are interested in doing a short interview on Friday, please let us know.

Remember, losing a community like Maguire/UVS is not just about housing, but about doing what is morally right by not taking away what little community spaces vulnerable international students have on campus.  It is a historically and culturally significant place, and should be saved for future generations to enjoy.  Our homes are worth more than the empty recreation fields and parking lot UF is proposing to replace them with.  Please continue to speak out on the issue when you can, and share our Petition with everyone you know.
