I am sure you will understand that it would be premature for the University to offer financial reimbursement to students when it is not yet clear how many staff will take strike action, for how long or in which areas. In terms of specific mitigating actions, they include a range of options, some of which will not be applicable in all circumstances or in all schools, but they include mitigations such as: where a member of staff is on strike, it may be possible for teaching to be replaced by alternative materials, or to be recovered at a later date; some staff duties may be taken over by other staff for the duration of the strike action; assessment deadlines may be extended to allow more time for students to complete; exam scripts may be revised to ensure material covered is still appropriate; exam boards can be given instructions on how to ensure that students are not penalised as a result of the action – and so on.
