Better Late than Never

Mark Kennedy announced earlier today that he'll be stepping down from his role as President of the CU system in the next few months. The highlights of his tenure include:
- Being elected (almost exactly 2 years ago) by a deeply unpopular 5-4 party-line vote (2019).
- Comparing inadequate online education resources to the Trail of Tears (2020).
- Being censured by the CU Boulder Faculty Assembly for a "failure of leadership" (2021).
- Being paid approximately $1.5M.
These outcomes are among the consequences of previous Board of Regents elections, but Kennedy's departure is thanks to Colorado voters reshaping the Board last November. Now, we can look forward to a new President of the CU system — one that represents our values and has a strong record of supporting diversity, justice, and science.
