As some of you may know, tomorrow is Giving Tuesday. So many of you have expressed a will to help in someway, and we wanted to reach out today with the way that you can do that. Below is a link to the GLAS gofundme page, where you can contribute to help former programs run by Yerkes Observatory’s Education Outreach.
In the years since the observatory has shut its doors, GLAS has done a lot of work to ensure that all programs are sustained, and the new ones can work to make changes in the community. More information can be found out here. We know that for a lot of you, it has been long enough that this may have sort of faded to the background, the closing of the observatory and the fact that there has been very little news has been disheartening. However, as some of you may know, the YFF (Yerkes Future Foundation), recently made a public announcement of the agreement of ownership transfer with the University of Chicago (the statement can be found here).
We are still here, a group of students and others who want to help save the observatory, and we wanted to make sure that everyone who signed our petition is caught up on the latest and has the opportunity to help on this Giving Tuesday. Anything you can do to help out the former programs now run by GLAS would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all for your continued support and willingness to help, anything you can do will be much appreciated, and we hope everyone is well and has a great holiday season!
