Shame on UC Berkeley for lying repeatedly about the use of glue traps on campus. This was sitting in Lewis Hall. These traps are inhumane, unnecessary, and cruel. Previously the campus facilities has stated they never use these traps, but they are lying. Glue traps are frequently sighted on campus.

To expand upon this, the then-head of campus facilities responded to complaints about the use of these traps several years previously and first stated nonsensically that these traps are only used for mice. A few hours later, he seemed to realize the ridiculousness of this statement (as if a mouse would know he wasn't the target of the trap) and made another statement that in fact the campus did not and would not use glue traps because of the inherent cruelty of these devices.

Traps in Doe Library popped back up last year, and the facilities manager reiterated that the campus does not use glue traps. But here we are today, and traps are openly used in Lewis Hall.

If you see a glue trap on campus, photograph it, repost it, check for a live creature, and dispose of the trap where a rodent can't be trapped in it to die slowly of thirst or rip his paw skin off trying to escape. If you find a trapped animal, there are measures you can take to help the little guy escape.
