Save Filistix from closure at the U of A by its corporate overlords at Aramark

The Issue

Two locations of Filistix on campus are slated to be closed in August because Aramark decided to not renew the lease with one of Edmonton's best-loved local institutions.

Filistix represents the direction that dining services should pursue: it is a locally-owned restaurant with nutritious and quality ingredients. They are pioneers in sustainability. These are qualities that Dining Services emphasizes on its website. Furthermore, the Filistix in CAB is extremely popular, and is the destination for students and staff at lunch. Given its success, it is inexplicable that Filistix would be closed.

Dining Services serves the campus community and yet it is closing one of the best-loved institutions for food on campus. We, the members of the University of Alberta community, ask that Aramark overturn this decision and renew the lease with Filistix.
