Congratulations, everyone! We've won the first battle. The agreement to have the special meeting was buried in the message sent to members this morning, in the final paragraph about attachments. Thank you to the always eagle-eyed Chris Soteros for bringing it to my attention! They will give us a 15-day notice of the meeting. If you are eligible to become a University Club member, whether you were a member of the Club pre-COVID, or want to become a new member, please contact the Club President, Dr. Scott Tunison (scott.tunison at usask.ca). Your request needs to be processed soon for you to be able to attend the meeting; so please send the message ASAP. Although we have won this early victory, the Club is still set to permanently close as of now, so let's not let our collective guard down yet. We need to reverse the dissolution at the upcoming meeting, and then build a stronger University Club. As I have jokingly said to friends and family in the last few days: Let's build "the Club that the University that the World Needs Needs!" :-) So many of you have helped in special ways. I haven't asked for your permission to publicly name you yet, so I won't. But you know who you are: the Law College colleague who has spoken to me several times, the colleagues who were at the May 14th meeting with me, and supported this effort, the colleagues who sent messages to encourage others to join in. A special thank you to the USFA chair and executive who helped get the word out to faculty. After the University Club board, and later PAWS, declined to forward an announcement about the petition, we had run out of options. Time to celebrate! Nadeem
