Dear Colleagues and Friends,

Thank you so much for signing this petition.  We’ve reached 50 signatures!  

I’ve counted at least 40 University Club membership-eligible people’s names on the petition already.  This is awesome!  At the same time, with uncertainty about whom the board will accept as members, and what number of members will be accepted as meeting the 5% threshold, we need to continue to tell our colleagues and friends across campus about this petition, and encourage them to sign.  

I added the Club President’s email address to the petition this morning, so that Change.org can keep him informed about the fast-growing support for the petition.  

Here’s what I think needs to happen now:

1. A special meeting needs to be called.

2. One of:

   a) All members as of March 1, 2020, need to be invited and allowed to vote at the meeting.

             OR

   b) Membership needs to be reopened to allow people to become members before the meeting.

Having discontinued one’s membership because of the Club’s unprecedented temporary pandemic-related closure must not be held against loyal members.
