This petition gives a lot of context about how the major players who are handling this case, thus far.
The Planning Commission, The County of San Luis Obispo, Major, Board of Supervisors, State Water Resources Control Board, State Department of Fish and Wildlife Services, Air Control Board, DOGGR, United States and Local Environment Protection Agency, Sentinel Peak Resources Oil Field and Phillips 66 Refinery.
And the citizens of these communities should be included too.
We are asking the County and United States EPA to investigate Sentinel Peak Resources Oil Field and Phillips 66 Refinery in regards to a comprehensive evaluation of both business for unethical business practices, compliance, code, safety, environment, business, administrative, worker, operators, human rights, legal violations and all oil spills, cracks and leaks.
The citizens do not have any trust in the County Officials and Oil Companies owners at this time. We feel with this petition that thousands of voices are stronger then (1) voice. This nationwide call out for help with this petition is necessary and it is not only affecting us but it is creating a wave all over the world.
Our water and land is contaminated and we want answers now!!!
People all over the world are in a crises from toxic water and land as a result of fracking failures. And when they report it to the media their are treated so badly and neglectful. These folks are told do not tell their neighbors, friends, family or any one else for that matter. In other words, by exposing the oil and gas companies they will not get the financial help they need to relocate, clean up cost, punitive damages and pay for medical bills from injuries of the contamination from the Oil and Gas Companies neglect.
Parents are told to silences their children from talking about it too. This hostages of the mind and soul is criminal at best.
Only (3) States have accessible databases of violations by oil and gas companies. That is another petition in the making in California and others should make available in their State too.
Fracking occurs closer to towns and homes because they take up less space than other sources such as coal mines, cement factories and oil fields. Most people have a gas well within 1 mile to their own home. You would think people living near these fracking sites would have a stake in the database information of spills, cracks, leaks, air, water and land contamination. This information is extremely hard for the public to get.
I was lucky to have (3) employees, name unknown give me this information unknowing that it exposed the truth of the company's dirty secrets with the water board.
The records that do exists paint a disturbing picture.
Are these Companies violating the law, you be the judge!!!
Many violation occur with Oil and Gas Companies and are allowed to be patched up without heavy fines or even closed down temporarily or permanently. Once the Oil and Gas Companies set up shop in your community it is very unlikely that they will ever be closed down.
How do we fix such a flaw in the system, We need new laws on the books about enforcement and compliance laws. In addition to public punitive action outcomes. No more hidden settlements and close door meetings.
Without stricter standards for fracking operations, we are all in danger. I cannot stress enough about the rules being strongly enforced.
We must not continue to accept high numbers of violations in the Oil And Gas Industry.
The State Oil Conservation Division (OCD) does maintain a violation databases, but it is not public or are the violation statistics published on the OCD website.
These statistics should be compiled and reported on a monthly bases on the OCD website. These databases should include information below of violations and put on the OCD website for the public to view.
1. Well sites
2. Operation name
3. The rules violated
4. The OCD response (date, type of enforcement action, deadline and etc)
5. The data compliance achieved
6. And link to other OCD well data
7. The penalties and sanctions
8. A list of oil companies with unresolved violations with diagram chart
9. Proposed fracking sites anywhere worldwide
If we are ever going to have peace of mind, we need to be transparent with each other.
