Fracking water that comes into contact with rivers, lakes, streams and the land stays buried in the sediment/land for hundred of years later. (very similar to the tank farm oil spill in san luis obispo, yet at a lower scale but still dangerous) In addition, many types of by-products of fracking chemicals are trapped at the bottom of the water bodies. Some of the other contaminants include radioactive radium, uranium, strontium and thorium. Heavy metals like arsenic and mercury, which are toxic in even modest amounts and over 40,000 different fracking chemicals and 600 fracking fluids, 8 million number of gallons of water used to fracking in a water stressed State of California. Which will cause are water rates to spike up for a trillionaire company. Where is the justice!!! Even produced wastewater emerges so salty that's it's generally referred to simply as "salt water" few animals and plants can hack the extreme salty waters. The results the animals and plants die.
There are 3 things you can do with produced wastewater by fracking. 1. You can store it underground in injection wells, ( they causes earthquakes). 2. You can clean it up somewhat on site and reuse it in another well ( when wastewater to drinking water becomes a major issue, such as once the water is separated out only 80% of the solids have been removed and it is used for drinking recycled water.)
It does not matter how many times the water is treated and retreated it still has the contaminates from the Oil Field in it. Long term exposure can cause cancer and many other diseases.
Water that comes from the Oil Field should have the ' food and water labeling standards" on it , which means we should have a label on the contents of the water we have come out of your faucet and the public has a choice if they want to drink, cook and bath in it.) 3. Or you can send the wastewater out to a 3rd - party processor a discharge facility who will barely clean it up for you before releasing it into a surface water environment ( this water kills or injuries animals, plants and humans from the content of the water) I have been told that homeless people drink from the Pismo Creek and dam sometimes and a person was found dead floating from the water and a person feel in the water and came down with a water disease that you only hear from in foreign countries and frogs/fish have been found dead at the end of Pismo Creek.) (AND the continue enforcement of wastewater permits, unauthorized discharge issues, sanitary sewer overflow and polluted wastewater is a common problem with wastewater 3rd parties, my water constantly smells like sewer and high volumes of bleach, And to force someone to take responsibility for fixing the pipelines is a nightmare).
