New wind data analysis - request all hands on deck to the fight against the Na Pua Makani Wind Farm

New weather data analysis shows Kahuku Wind Farm is responsible for our recent degredation of wind conditions at Sunset/Backyards. The clean strong winds are still present upwind from the wind farm. The figure here shows the strong tradewinds (before, left), and the loss of the strong tradewinds and disorganized winds at the weather station downwind from the Kahuku Wind Farm (right). As a result of this information, we are going to do everything we can to fight the proposed Na Pua Makani wind farm in Kahuku. There's nothing illegal about ruining our surfing conditions, but this Na Pua Makani Wind Farm's proposed killing of endangered Hawaiian hoary bats without doing anything to increase the bat population is not legal under State or Federal laws. Keep the North Shore Country, Kahuku Community Association, and others have a contested case before the Board of Land and Natural Resources fighting to protect the bat and the communities from the Na Pua Makani Wind Farm. Please consider making a donation to Keep the North Shore Country so they can fly bat specialists in and pay a trial lawyer to help in the hearings. This weekend we raised $2,600 among the Backyards surfers we saw and we've alerted Surfrider. Everything they do for this contested case will also help us fight other wind farms that try to develop on the North Shore.
