These are some events coming up in the Wayne National Forest. Of course I understand some of you aren't in Ohio, but getting these events out there is important. Seeing so many people show up at the National Forest could show the BLM and others that there are PLENTY of people who do NOT consent to fracking in the Wayne! February 12, 2017, FOREST HIKE- open to all...meeting at Hune Bridge Camp Area around 2pm (earlier, like 12 is possible depending on people's needs...comment below) in Wayne National Forest for a hike and fireside snack. This is super informal and just a chance to enjoy some of the Marietta Unit of WNF. This is a "bring your own food and non-alcoholic drink" event...bring extra if you want to share. However, S'mores will be provided. Ranger said we could use the camp fire pits as long as we clean up after! Donations of camp wood appreciated. Don't be worried about athletic ability, you can walk as much as you want and then turn around to head back to camp. Do dress WARM! If weather is bad, this event will be postponed/rescheduled. • March 11, 2017: We are planning a two hour workshop from 2pm-4pm for concerned citizens and groups in Marietta, OH. This will be an educational opportunity and allow for community members to network with each other and develop strategies for protecting WNF. This will be a diplomatic event, no politics allowed. Venue still being secured, will make event page once confirmed. Hoping to provide light snacks, coffee/water. • March 11, 2017: Following the workshop 5pm-9pm, we will host an awareness/social event that will feature a short educational film, music from local bands, and a social hour. Efforts are currently underway with Little Fish Brewing Co to serve the “Don’t Frack Wayne” beer at the social hour event. Hoping to have dinner provided, but that may change. • April 21-23, 2017: United Citizens Action Network (UCAN), a grassroots organization, is hosting a camping conference in Marietta, Oh. This conference will be amazing and open to all!! Message UCAN if you have questions. • September 8-10, 2017: We will set up a booth at Marietta’s Ohio River Sternwheel Festival. We will have information to hand out, and marketing merchandise to purchase. This event will target those who are unaware of what is happening in Wayne National Forest and will encourage individuals to get involved on a local level.
