We are student advocates here at State College of Florida Collegiate School and are urging you all to help push for a limit on pesticide use on corn farms to prevent the endangerment of bees.

While it may not seem like it, bees have been a sufficient part of sustaining our own lives, as they are not only the world’s most important pollinator, but have also helped to secure $19 billion in our economy. In addition, bees improve the health of the human population, as they improve our agriculture. An improvement in agriculture increases overall food supply and allows a greater amount of the human population to be supported, as demonstrated by Great Britain’s Agricultural Revolution in the 18th century. Because of the recent uprising of the pesticide neonicotinoid in corn farms, bees are increasingly dying from its lethal effects. Not only that, but these types of pesticides are rarely needed, as only 1% of corn acres experience yield loss to soil pests.  
 
Therefore, we urge all of you to help us limit the use of neonicotinoids to ensure a substantial future for not only the bees, but for us as well. In order to do this, we ask that people sign this petition to modify the USDA's already existing regulations regarding pesticide use. If we all worked together to get the USDA to approve of this new rule, then we would be doing a lot more for the betterment of bees and our community.
