Animals in the meat industry are currently living in conditions that are cruel and painful. Many of the animals aquire diseases that not only cause them pain, but can lead to bacteria in the food we consume. Living conditions are cramped, and most animals do not see the sun throughout their entire life. The unsanitary conditions not only threaten the animal, but our health as well. I understand that the US is based around the consumption of meat, but that does not mean that we have to mistreat the animals we consume. The conditions in which the animals in the meat industry live need to improve drastically.
