“His father, my great-grandfather Berthold, however, did not listen to his son’s warnings, insisting that his homeland would never betray him and that Hitler was a passing phase…[He later] received a postcard from his father with all but one line censored out: ‘You were right. Your loving father.’” 

Ivana Zelnickova Trump’s own father lived such warnings. Eva Geiringer Schloss lived such warnings. When people nowadays—including Eva Schloss—are warning such about Donald Trump now, we haven’t even (or at least simply just) read Lisa Bronner’s blog and gone off of it. We lived and/or paid attention to history. My own great-grandfather Anthony “Tony” Czarnecki (né Czerniecki or Zernetzky) escaped Russia-occupied Poland only because his parents knew that even being hidden Jews would not spare them, and that worse would come. Within 14-52 years later, as Tony was able to leave Russia with his mother in May of 1908, the Czerniecki and related families lost relatives in the Holocaust in Russia (1922-1960, which reached its worst point with the Soviet-named “The Doctor’s Plot”) and Germany (1933-1945. The Soviet “The Doctor’s Plot” was Stalin’s equivalent of what the Nazis named “The Final Solution”). 

In conclusion, Congress is dooming the United States to repeat evil history and do even worse if it does not listen to the voices of multigenerational Holocaust survivors (with Eva Schloss being both a first- and second-generation Holocaust survivor), multigenerational pogrom survivors (including myself), and other people whom are asking Congress to impeach Donald Trump.
