First, I want to say THANK YOU!! I am completely humbled by all the support I have received. The signatures, the shares, and the contributions!
You all may wonder why this is so important to me. So allow me to give you a little backstory.
In 2005, my sister started dating an officer. In October of 2008, they married. Ben wasn't just my brother in law. He was my brother. Someone I looked up to and would go to work anything. He was my #1 go to. In the early morning hours of December 25, 2017, Ben passed away of an apparent heart attack. Now I've always supported our Law Enforcement. But his passing triggered something inside me. The need to do more in his memory. To keep his memory alive. So I would hand out gift cards to officers I would run into. Then last summer, I created "Tags Of Appreciation." My daughter and I hand paint wooden tags and we mail them out to officers all across the United States. But I wanted to do something more. Something for those we have lost in the line of duty.
That's where this idea of a National Holiday came in to play. Our soldiers died fighting for our country and for our freedom. Our fallen Law Enforcement officers died serving and protecting our communities, our cities, our counties, and our states. They too deserve a special holiday. And we can make this happen if we all join together.
The most important thing we can do besides signing this is to SHARE it like crazy! The more we share, the more people we reach, and the more signatures we get. I couldn't do this without you all. My one signature isn't enough. So thank you all from the bottom of my heart. You are appreciated more than you will ever know!
Sincerely, Jennifer Miller
