On 5 June 2022, Fulani Islamic terrorists gunned down unarmed worshippers at the St Francis Catholic Church in the city of Owo in Yorubaland. They killed more than 80 people including children. The massacre was not an accident. This was a naked display of Fulani ethnic animosity towards the Yoruba. The Fulani hate us. The Fulani have always hated us.

Indeed, the Fulani gunmen were pursuing the objectives of their leader, the late Ahmadu Bello, who on 12 October 1960 said: ‘The new nation called Nigeria should be an estate of our grandfather, Othman Danfodio. We must ruthlessly prevent a change of power. We must use the minorities in the North as willing tools & the South as conquered territories & never allow their future.’

The election of Buhari as Nigeria’s president in 2015 accelerated the pursuit of the Ahmadu Bello objectives. Buhari installed Fulani as heads of all government departments and organisations including the armed forces. He permitted Fulani terrorists to carry assault rifles like the AK47 whilst at the same time he prevented others from carrying arms to defend themselves. Buhari rendered the police and the armed forces ineffectual against the Fulani terrorists or enabled them to act as accomplices of the terrorists.

In 2018, Bada Ahmadu, president of the Fulani Nationality Movement, stated that Nigeria was the only country in the world that God gave to the Fulani.

In 2020, Abdullahi Bodejo, president of Miyetti Allah, association of Fulani herdsmen, of which Buhari is a member, declared that all land in Nigeria belonged to the Fulani.

In 2022, Nigeria’s Fulani elites openly invite Fulani Islamic terrorists from other countries to invade Nigeria to forcibly take Yoruba land.

It is self-evident therefore that the Fulani posed an existential threat to the survival of the Yoruba race that must be actively resisted.

First, governors of the 8 Yoruba states immediately should declare a state of emergency throughout Yorubaland. This would enable them to accurately assess the magnitude of the threat posed by the Fulani terrorists. Dangote and others, for example, use their commercial vehicles regularly to transport Fulani men and arms into Yorubaland. But, the locations of the Fulani terrorist cells and their arms dumps are not accurately known. The governors should appoint civil defence teams, made up of retired Yoruba military and police officers, to reconnoitre and produce relevant maps. We want the Fulani to know that we know where they are.

Second, the Oba of the principal Yoruba towns and cities immediately should meet and announce the birth of a new nation, the Yoruba State, and appoint the interim administrator to oversee the transition to the new Yoruba State. Nigeria is a failed state. Remaining in Nigeria is of no benefit to the Yoruba. Since 1914, resources have been daily taken from Yorubaland to give to Northern Nigeria. We have got nothing positive in return from them, only never ending trouble. Enough is enough. The future is bright for the new Yoruba State. We have the human and natural resources to compete with the very best in the world. Let us liberate ourselves from the Fulani yoke. Now! Now! Now!
