Who we are:
IlanaUK is a free-standing Chapter of Ilana Omo Oodua. Go to ilanauk.org to learn more.

Our mission:
To pursue directly, and exclusively non-profit making activities devoted to the welfare and self-determination of the Yoruba people.

Our desire:
To do things for ourselves the Yoruba way as we did before the Europeans came, and as we did when we governed ourselves between 1952 and 1959.

Our right:
Self-determination is only about our God-given, inherent right to exist on our own, to do things the Yoruba way without looking over our shoulders. Brexit is self-determination. If it is good enough for the UK, it is good enough for Yorubaland.

Our right to self-determination is guaranteed by domestic and international law.

UN General Assembly Resolution 1514 (XV) says: ‘All peoples have the right to self-determination; by virtue of that right they freely determine their political status and freely pursue their economic, social and cultural development’.

African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights Article 20 says: ‘All peoples shall have the right to existence. They shall have the unquestionable and inalienable right to self- determination. They shall freely determine their political status and shall pursue their economic and social development according to the policy they have freely chosen’.

The African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights (Ratification and Enforcement) Act Chapter A9 of 1983 made the provisions of the African Charter law of Nigeria, and reaffirmed by the Igboho case.

Our approach:
To mount legal challenges to Nigeria’s legality and legitimacy, and to use propaganda to convince others of the value of Yoruba independence to the world.

We Yoruba people in the UK must mobilise. There are 120,000 of us in London alone. Chinese: 120,000; Jews: 120,000, both ethnic groups have political clout. Yoruba: 120,000 no political clout. We must change that. NOW!

Support, sign, spread, donate, share, retweet http://chng.it/QJp8yJ6hPs Target: 100,000 signatures. Signatures cost nothing! And you don’t even have to be Yoruba to sign!
