There is today a general clamour all over Nigeria for the country to be restructured. The National Assembly, comprising of representatives elected from all corners of Nigeria say they cannot change or alter the constitution of 1999 which had been imposed by the military. In other words, the military wrote the 1999 Nigeria constitution on a tablet of stone. Despite the change in uniform, Nigeria is still under military dictatorship.

The 1999 Nigeria constitution denies its peoples a) the freedom to alter or change their own destiny, b) the possibility for self-determination c) any aspiration for groups or individuals to do better. As a consequence of the 1999 constitution, Nigeria fails the democracy test, the freedom test and the human rights test. Thank you for supporting the campaign for Yoruba self-determination but please don’t relax yet!
