Urgent action regarding massive death in Kasai, DRC

« SOS-Congo is seeking one million signatures for this petition addressed to the UN Security Council to demand urgent action regarding the massive death policy being currently applied by the authorities of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in their country’s Kasai Region.
Fifty-two mass graves, 3 to 4 thousand civilians massacred by the military, police, or militias according to local NGOs. Two UN experts murdered, more than one million displaced persons, scores of villages devastated or emptied, in an ongoing troubled political, socio-economic and security context.
This is the macabre result so-far of a protracted conflict that started off apparently as a mere customary skirmish. It has now turned into a monstrously deadly dirty war. In just eight months the Kasai Provinces- known in the past as an oasis of peace in the centre of the DRC- have now become the theatre of unqualifiable barbarous repressions against the population by the DRC’s State apparel.
SOS-Congo appeals to the peace and justice-loving citizens of the world to sign this petition requesting the UN Security Council to demand the International Criminal Court to launch an investigation, and prosecute those presumed responsible, namely: high office holders in the DRC’s Army, Police Force, Security Services and other authorities. An independent investigation being necessary, since such office holders cannot be simultaneously party and judge. The massive crimes currently taking place should never again be repeated. »
