Since the judgment in my first case on 25 September 2023 until my latest on 25 July 2025, the number of those who come to listen has not declined. In addition, news of the decisions is disseminated in various media outlets within and beyond Thailand. Further, people send encouragement and assistance in various forms. This is what the old society fears.
They hope that awareness and interest will wane with time. But the opposite has occurred. As people increasingly question the Thai judicial process, the only path they can take is to attempt to use a lotus leaf to cover the decay. When they fail to cover it completely, they then come to cover the eyes and ears of the people.
The primary reason why I have not sought political asylum is that I want to use my case to reflect the ugliness of the judicial process in Article 112. I want to serve as a record of the transformation of this moment.
I fully believe that speaking the truth about the institution of the monarchy and criticizing it with sincerity and good intentions will awaken society.
Time is not only on our side, but also continues to serve as proof of what we are fighting for and illustrates the problems and conflicts in Thai society.
However, over time, various difficulties and problems have emerged as obstacles in the struggle. The judges in many of my Article 112 cases have ordered that the trials be conducted in secret and banned the dissemination of news. In some cases, they retreat and attempt to reading the decisions in public. Observing this, I ask myself each time, “If you are confident that the judgment is just, then what are you afraid of?”
On a day when my ankles are scarred from being shackled, I remain resolute in my desire to use my life to document and reflect the ugliness of Article 112. To remind myself of the injustice I have encountered, I will shave off one of my eyebrows so that every time I see myself in the mirror, I will not forget.
If my struggle in the judicial process is to be of some contribution, I would like it to inspire those within the judiciary. Please take a moment to reflect on and comprehend its ugliness.
Finally, let me offer encouragement to friends who struggle alongside me:
From the first day until today, we have come to far to go back to square one.
With trust and faith,
Arnon Nampa
