Representatives from the ILF and StandWithUs, along with Israel's Ambassador to UNESCO, submitted our petition to UNESCO's Director General Irina Bokova. The UNESCO vote today, which was expected to pass with an almost complete consensus, barely passed and failed to receive a majority with eight countries abstaining, two opposing, and one absent from the room. So, while today's resolution may have (barely) passed, there is no doubt that our voices have been heard in the international court of public opinion. The petition also received widespread media coverage, and went viral on social media.
