On Thursday 8th of September we presented your petition signed by almost 19,000 of you (paper & online petitions) to Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWAC), requesting that CWAC Scrutiny Committee, recommend to Cabinet for a period of public consultation, on their unknown plans, to give an unknown developer a 150 year lease on the land on top of Britain's Biggest Roman Amphitheatre, including Dee House. Unfortunately the council decided to IGNORE YOU and your request to be heard, and instead voted to proceed to the next stage, which will be to give the unknown developer a 150 year lease. All 5 Labour Councillors voted against your request, whilst all 4 Conservative Councillors voted in favour of public consultation. The following councillors voted against listening to you!: Andy Williams - representing the people of Neston Reggie Jones - representing the people of Blacon Jane Mercer - representing the people of Lache Richard Beacham - representing the people of Newton Mark Henesy - representing the people of Ellesmere Port In her acceptance speech, Labour Leader of the new CWAC Council, Sam Dixon, who has so far remained silent on the whole Amphitheatre issue, even though the Amphitheatre itself is in her ward, told the public, “Thank you to the voters of Cheshire West for putting your cross and your trust in your Labour council. We will not disappoint you.” Therefore if you feel disappointed, about the fact that her council feels that it is ok to ignore almost 19,000 peoples request to be consulted.
