We need as many volunteers as possible to help us collect signatures on our petition and to hand out car stickers and flyers at Chester's Amphitheatre this coming Saturday 27th, Sunday 28th and Monday 29th of August, between 11 and 5pm, any hours to suit you! Our petition which is currently 12,087 (paper & online) is calling on Cheshire West & Chester Council to give us, the public, a period of public consultation on the future of the derelict Dee House & the buried part of Britain's Biggest Roman Amphitheatre right here in Chester, as CWAC are proposing to sign a lease on top of the site to a developer for the next 150 years, which would land lock the buried remains beneath until the year 2166, and turn Dee House above in to a hotel, offices or similar, meaning nobody alive today or for the next 4 or 5 generations, will ever see what lies beneath. We also need anyone on TWITTER to follow and support the campaign @digupdeva as lots of the councillors who will be making the final decisions on the 55% of the buried amphitheatre follow the account too! Finally a note for your diary, we intend to hand over our petition to CWAC Council on September the 8th at 6pm, at their meeting to discuss whether or not to recommend for a period of public consultation on their proposals for the land above the amphitheatre, or not.
