We need you to SHARE, SHARE, SHARE our campaign to get 10,000 supporters to sign our petition - Facebook, Twitter, Email, Text... Please share your support now using #DigUpDeva to all your friends and family. We're just 12 days in to our campaign and 9,234 people have signed our petition calling for CWAC Council NOT to do a deal with developers on the land above Chester's Amphitheatre. That's 766 short of an unbelievable 10,000 signatures! If we reach 10,000 that will equate to 14% of the electorate in Chester. 14% of the voting public is very important to a Labour Council with a majority of just 1 Councillor, in a traditionally Conservative city. It is thought that the CWAC Conservative Councillors (the opposition) are all voting for the deal to be scrapped, hence their decision to 'call in' the proposal for further scrutiny, claiming that the public had not been properly consulted on the proposal and appealing for a period of public consultation before any deal is done with a developer. The next step of our campagin therefore, is to convince a CWAC Scrutiny Committee made up of Conservative and Labour CWAC Councillors on September the 8th, that the proposal to lease the land and Dee House to developers for the next 150 years, does not have the backing of the public whom they represent and furthermore, the public do not feel as though they have been properly consulted on such a decision, which would ultimately have huge implications for the future tourism of the city for the next fifteen decades, until the year 2166, given the fact that the unearthed 55% of the Chester Amphitheatre will become land locked under ground if the deal goes ahead. We'll keep this short and sweet, we need you to share what's happening in Chester with all your friends and family and ask them to sign the petition now. Thank you, or as the builders of Chester's Amphitheatre in the 70s AD would have wanted to say to you "gratias tibi".
