Update from Raed Amira (PUSWP) IFSW representative to Palestine:
"Yesterday, late in the night, Israeli occupation forces released our social workers Mohammad Lutfi ( Habashi ), Wesam Hamdan and Hassan Faraj. After a hard and difficult investigation and interrogation the military prosecution's attempts to to send them to jail failed and now they are free.
Hassan Faraj told us that he met, by chance, our colleague Munther Amira for five minutes and he stated that Munther is in bad health: he has high blood pressure and pains the neck and in the back. As you know living conditions in the prison are really hard and bad.
Tomorrow [Tuesday 16th] Munther will be in court, and we hope we will be released.
We will continue to defend the rights of our people to freedom, independence and the establishment of a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
We will continue to defend Palestinian prisoners.
We will continue to defend social workers in Palestine.
We will continue to build the capacity of social workers.
We will continue to defend our innocent children.
We will continue to spread the smile to our people.
Thanks a lot to Filipe Duarte.
Thanks a lot to Dr Rory Truell
Many thanks to Silvana and Nigel.
For your regular and continuous support, and your defence of our social workers and for Palestinian in general.
Freedom for Munther Amira and all social workers in Palestine"
