Thank you for supporting this petition. UNC ignored thousands of community members and anti-racists across the country, and they will try Maya before the 'Honor' Court this Thursday and Friday.

Please join us this in the Pit on Thursday, 10/25, at 2:30pm. We will gather to support Maya and memorialize James Cates, a young black man who was murdered by a white motorcycle gang in the Pit in 1970. At 3:00pm, those who are able will accompany Maya to her trial and pack the Honor Court. The hearing is open to the general public.

The university's complicity with white supremacy - and its steadfast insistence on protecting Silent Sam - has put as all at risk. Just yesterday, a judge ruled UNC was the "proximate cause" of a white supremacist assault on an undergraduate student. It is no wonder this dishonorable institution considers it an 'honor' crime to engage in civil disobedience against a racist statue.

Help send a strong message - it is unacceptable for UNC to use its internal justice system to silence anti-racists who criticize the university. Meet us this Thursday at 2:30pm in the Pit.

See you there.
