The first DTC meeting of the subcommittee to support small business went pretty well. The topic will be moving forward as city staff looks at possible zoning and ordinance language and tools, as well as the legalities of what we can do within NC state law. We will be inviting community and stakeholders to the table for the next meeting. We have a timeline of needing to have a recommendation to city council by November, so things will need to steam ahead pretty quickly. Asheville Grown Business Alliance will be one of the organizations leading the discussion with support from the Lexington Avenue Merchants Association (LAMA), as well as the Asheville Downtown Association. We will be hosting a community meeting in the next couple of weeks to really set our message and strategy. Thank you for your interest and for caring about Asheville!
