Last night our petition received its 150,000th signature and is now one of the most signed on Change UK. Thank you to every one of you who has signed and shared it so far.

Although we fell narrowly short in our attempt to convince MPs to vote in favour of the the anti-sewage amendment to the Environment Bill, the national outcry that followed did lead to a strengthening of the bill's original wording and should be regarded as a victory, if not the one we initially wanted.

Without your support in growing the petition and writing to MPs, though, the amendment may not even have left the House of Lords, so I am truly grateful to you all.

Of course the war against sewage pollution is far from over and until water companies start drastically improving their performance, our campaign group, SOS Whitstable, will continue to fight against them.
