Dear Supporters,
In my previous post [link] of my Open Letter to the Home Office somehow became a Freedom of Information (FOI) request, and the FOI stated they will give me a full response by 2 September 2020.
The FOI did not give a response by 2 September 2020, [link] was their reply dated 3 September 2020 stated "I regret that we have been unable to send you a full response to your request by 2 September. This is because consideration of your request is taking longer than we anticipated. I would like to apologise on behalf of the Department for this delay, but I can assure you that we are dealing with your request and we will send you a full reply as soon as we can."
Instead a response [link] was given by the Home Office Public Enquiries (HOPE) with a different reference number out of the blue on 27 August 2020, and the FOI was not aware of it.
The HOPE's response stated that "I am unable to provide a definitive timescale for consideration of your application."
I believe the HOPE's has not responded to all my queries and did not provide evidence to support their claim, such as:
- the HOPE's response stated that "The UK has a Memorandum of Understanding with Malaysia in the field of immigration which was signed in 2011"
But according to the Home Office own Enforcement Instructions and Guidance [link] (removed on 12 June 2017) stated that "Following discussions with relevant interest groups in February 2012, the Minister for Immigration agreed to suspend enforced removal action in cases in which the subject is a former Malaysian national who has renounced their Malaysian nationality"
Currently I have a solicitor who will follow up on the matter and my application.
Please get in touch if you have any query.
Thank you.
Best regards,
Liew
