MP for Croydon Central Responds

Good Evening, I'm delighted to say I have received a reply from my local MP and MP for Croydon Central, Sarah Jones. She has expressed her support for the cause and also has added she is willing to contact the relevant bodies in the particular cases I have experienced. You can read the full reply below: "Dear Ms Walker, Thank you for taking the time to share your story with me. I'm very sorry to hear of the horrible treatment you've experienced. I've been encouraged over the past few months to see so many brave individuals like you speak out about the harassment and abuse they have suffered. No one should be subjected to this kind of treatment, especially children. I admire your commitment to building a safe environment for future generations in the wrestling industry. This is not an isolated problem. The Government must do more to protect against sexual harassment and abuse across our society. The Fawcett Society recently conducted a year-long review of sex discrimination law which found that half of all women had experienced sexual harassment at work, while nearly two-thirds of women of all ages had experienced unwanted sexual harassment in public places. As you well know, sports are also a big concern, with often young vulnerable people looking to follow their dreams in football, gymnastics, or wrestling. The shocking case of the USA Gymnastics doctor convicted of abusing more than 200 girls has highlighted this particularly clearly. A coalition of MPs, unions, and women's groups have come together to launch an inquiry into existing sexual harassment laws. Especially in light of the disgraceful President's Club charity dinner, it is more clear than ever that something must change. I will be closely following this inquiry and will support its findings on how best to combat continued sexual discrimination and abuse.
