Party manifestos: what they said and what we think

The three main political parties have launched their manifestos outlining their vision of what they would deliver if elected on 8 June. Here's what was said and what it means for people with disabilities living in developing countries. What they did say: All three parties recognised the importance of global aid, committed to delivering the Sustainable Development Goals (a set of global goals agreed by world leaders, with a promise to 'leave no one behind') and ending extreme poverty. What they didn’t say: The manifestos published so far didn’t mention directly or explicitly the need for the UK’s global development work to be inclusive of people with disabilities. What this means: We won’t end poverty or deliver the Sustainable Development Goals promise to leave no one behind without the explicit inclusion of people with disabilities. We need to make sure that all political parties recognise this. It's vital that the next UK government puts people with disabilities at the heart of development policy, and we'll continue to press all the main parties to make sure it happens.
