The petition is nearing 15,000 signatures and progress is being made in a number of areas, with some universities granting students the option to cancel their contracts early due to returning home because of COVID-19, but we are not there yet. A vast number of students live in privately owned accommodation buildings and are still being made to pay rent for a building they can no longer use. We hope that with this petition and the support it is receiving from around the U.K., this will not be an issue in the near future.
