Make it Law to report cat collisions!

The Issue

Within the past year we have lost 2 of our beloved cats, Quinn & Six due to them being ran over by cars. Lucky enough people have stopped and move the cats to the pathway at both separate occasions. The first occasion Quinn who was a new mother to 6 beautiful kittens was involved in a collision with a car, luckily the lady who had hit her had called me whilst I was at work and informed me what had happened and explained how sorry she was. The second occasion my baby boy as I called him, was 1 years old and the son of Quinn was involved in a collision outside of my house at 23:20pm on 06/08/16 on cctv the gentleman that had ran him over had pulled over and with the help of another passerby moved him into the pathway. I didn't know what had happened, so I left my house and I noticed him laying there on the side of the road, blood over the road and him, everywhere. Now it isn't law at the moment to report an incident involving a car hitting someone's cat but I do believe that as soon as it happens the owners should know that they have lost their pet which is apart of their family. Many people just say " it's just a cat". Try saying that to your 5 year old daughter when she asks where he is, it's utterly heartbreaking. I'm hoping that this petition will help to make it the law to report any collision involving cats to a local 24/7 veterinary service or the 101 non emergency police service so that the owners can be notified.
