Petition updateEnd the unfair disqualification of caregivers

Ofsted refuse to disclose the number of refused Registered Manager applications.

At a time when there is a National Shortage of Registered Children’s Homes Managers, we do not know how many applications are being refused or why.

And, when asked Ofsted claim that this information does not form part of the extract of the register that they are required to consider disclosure of when requested. As a result, there is no entitlement to the information you have requested, and we will not be making a disclosure in response to this request.

But this has never been tested and there is growing evidence of long-serving suitably qualified applicants being refused and permanently disqualified from working in a children’s home and at the same time evidence of applicants who have never worked in a children’s home being registered.

With almost 400 signatures on this petition to stop the unfair disqualification of caregivers, it is evident that this is not limited to a small number of circumstances when Ofsted come across people and want to ‘refuse’ them without giving them opportunity to withdraw.

But to stand any chance of getting this on the political agenda which is where it needs to be, many more are needed so please share and share again.
