A terrifying discovery or an unjust application of badly written law ?

Given that applicants must have within the last 5 years, worked for at least 2 years in a position relevant to the residential care of children and worked for at least one year in a role requiring the supervision and management of staff working in a care role to meet the application criteria to become a registered manager of a children's home, the decision to refuse registration and a waiver to work in any capacity in the children's workforce must be either a terrifying admission of systemic child protection failure or a serious miscarriage of justice.
If the decision to refuse registration is reliable it follows that 'unfit' people are working in positions of trust with our most vulnerable children without detection.
If the decision to refuse registration is unreliable it follows that 'caregivers' are being unjustly disqualified from the children's workforce.
For the sake of our children and caregiver’s secretive regulatory decision-making process must be replaced with processes that stand up to public scrutiny and in doing so uphold civil rights, protects children and instils confidence in children's social care.
Making this happen will depend on raising public awareness and support for who we are, what we do and how we do it…. please keep sharing!
