Petition updateEnd the liesUrgent: Ask Alex Davies-Jones to Support the Truth in Politics Amendment

Good news! The amendment we have helped shape, to extend protections against deliberate political deception to MPs and peers, will be decided upon this Monday 19th January. A growing number of MPs (thanks to your emails) have now signed up to support it.

And thanks to a delay to the debate on the Hillsborough Bill we have an opportunity to put further pressure on the Government to ensure the amendment passes and that politicians can no longer deceive the public.

We need to turn our focus to persuading the Minister responsible for the Bill to accept the amendments. We need to show her the clear need for and urgency of ensuring political actors, as well as public authorities, cannot exploit loopholes to mislead the public. It matters because democracy cannot survive if truth is optional.

We believe she is persuadable.

We have very little time but an email from you could help convince her.

Please email Alex Davies-Jones MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Ministry of Justice, and ask her to support this amendment.

Below is a suggested letter you can adapt — simple, respectful, and powerful. Please send it today, and share it with friends, family and colleagues who care about truth in politics.

Thank you for standing with us.

With gratitude,
