Hi everyone,

A massive thank you once again for signing this petition in support of a new law to prevent politicians from deliberately lying to or trying to manipulate the public. We're still planning the hand-in and hoping to get a debate on the bill that we drafted and will keep you updated on those plans.

Before that though I thought you might like to know that a new cross-party group was launched yesterday with the aim of changing the culture of politics. The All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Compassionate Politics will be chaired by Debbie Abrahams MP and Baroness Warsi and includes members from across parliament such as the MPs Caroline Lucas, Ben Lake, and Tracey Crouch, and members of the Lords like Baroness Lister and the Bishop of Durham. The APPG met for the first time yesterday (Tuesday 3 March) and one of the issues they discussed was the bill to prevent lying and this very petition. Members were so pleased to hear of the huge support it has got so thank you all for what you've done to make it happen.
