I’m running the London Marathon for Choose Love.
Because right now, the conversation around refugees and asylum seekers in the UK is wrong, increasingly hostile, and dangerous.
Yesterday, I joined over 500,000 people marching through London. People from all walks of life, coming together to send a clear message: we will not accept a politics built on fear, division and dehumanisation.
But moments like that only matter if we turn them into action.
In 1995, my family came to the UK as asylum seekers. We didn’t arrive with much — but we were met with compassion, community, and people who believed in giving others a chance. That welcome changed everything for us.
And if I’m honest, I worry that today, too many people aren’t receiving that same welcome.
That’s why I’m running the London Marathon — to raise money for Choose Love, an organisation providing vital support to refugees and displaced people around the world. From emergency aid and rescue boats to legal support and long-term integration, their work is life-changing.

Every contribution — big or small — helps support people who need it most.
And if you’re not in a position to donate, sharing this campaign would mean just as much.
Because this is about more than a marathon.
It’s about the kind of country we choose to be.
Thank you,
Mete
