Bokthiar (Bok) Rahman came to the UK approximately 7 years ago when he was 12. Since then he has been in full time education until last September. Last week he was arrested and taken to a detention centre in Kent from his home in East Sussex. Bok's application for a UK passport has been refused and he is threatened with deportation to the country of his birth, Bangladesh. I have known Bok for about 6 years and he is tbe happiest and kindest of young men. He is always willing to give up his time for others. He plays cricket for my local club and attends a coaching course organised by Sussex CC. He also in his free time coaches youngsters locally from the ages of 6-16. For free. Bok is exactly the right sort of person that a multicultural Britain should embrace and hold up as a shining light of positive immigration. I find it amazing that a country as caring as ours should take a very young man from Bangladesh as a very young child, put him through our education system and then throw him back into a country he hardly knows. Bok has not been back to Bangladesh for 7 years. He has no friends there, distant family and no idea of the culture or real command of the language. How would a British child adapt to such circumstances? I urge everyone to sign this petition to grant this lovely young man to be granted citizenship and remain in the UK; the only country he really knows. Thank you.
