Despite the despotic attitude of the U.K. Border Agency Catherine has gained entry into the U.K. I don't consider this to be a victory but justice has been achieved. Fortunately when we presented ourselves at a departure location to leave France to travel to the U.K. We were dealt with by two humanitarian, sensible and efficient employees of the UK Border Agency. Naturally that were bound to follow the illegal procedures forced upon them by the UK government at Westminster. Their enquiries revealed that Catherine had been refused a visa on the basis that she is impecunious, dependent on me, her husband, financially. We have no problem with this so why should anyone else. It was alleged by the Clearing Officer that he suspected that Catherine might try to remain in the U.K. With a view to settling there. Why we are happier in France and I have no intention of returning to live permanently in the U.K. So why should she ? The Border Guards questioned why the application had been refused and I explained as aforesaid. They were astounded that despite the fact that they had our telephone number and e- mail addresses nobody from the Agency attempted to contact us regarding any queries they may have. Bearing in mind that the UK has no right, under EU law to demand any of this information. I will continue this update later but just to say that Catherine was given a 6 month visitors visa and we currently touring the U.K.
